WWD Ankylosaurus 1/35 Scale
This is my customization of the 10 1/2" long Toyway WWD Ankylosaurus from "Walking with Dinosaurs".
I always loved the WWD rendition of the Ankylosaurus, but the Toyway figure had legs that were too small, and a tail that was too short. I finally got around to customizing this puppy, and I am quite pleased with the result. This is my favorite Ankylosaur customization. I did the following: 1. Lengthened the tail by about one inch, making it as long as the rest of the body. Wires and putty were used; 2. Cut off the legs and replaced them with legs from a Resaurus Triceratops figure that I had lying around; glue and putty were used; 3. FInally, side-spikes were moulded onto the body - this is pure speculation, but it makes for a cooler looking model. Because the WWD Ankylosaurus did not have any spiky edges, I made these spikes look like bony protrusions (blunt at the ends) instead of coming to a sharp point. The painting took many coats and washes to get right, but now the figure is "worthy" of its WWD CGI counterpart. |
