Eiji Tsuburaya Custom Tribute

This is my customized tribute to the great special effects Master of Toho Film Co. in the 1950s and 1960s, Mr. Tsuburaya Eiji.

Mr. Tsuburaya created all of the classic Godzilla suits, as well as many, many other creatures during his time at Toho.

Several years ago, on the 100th anniversary of his birth, the greatest Japanese Godzilla sculptor, Sakai Yuji, sculpted a small kit with Mr. Tsuburaya advising Godzilla (er..the man in the suit) during the shooting of 1962's King Kong vs. Godzilla Kaiju epic.

The kit was a perfect 3D reproduction of an actual photo taken of the two on the set of the movie.

When I acquired the kit I decided that it would be far more powerful if instead of just the two figures I added Kong and the Castle that the two monsters tear apart during their battle towards the end of the film. How I did it is described in the following pages.

Incidentally, this piece came in 6th place out of a total of 66 entries competing in the first Internet Modeling Clubhouse Contest. Since I had never entered any pieces in a contest before, I am grateful to those who thought it worthy of their votes. I hope you enjoy it - and future dioramas I have in the plans.
